An Act of Worship

Ever notice how life gets so crazy-busy that sometimes we forget what is happening right in front of us here and now?  Some days I am running around crazily trying to finish my all important to-do list, which usually consists of really high priority items like putting up the laundry and unloading the dishwasher.  And then I get cranky with my kids and/or husband and completely forget WHY I have a to-do list.  Everything I’m doing I am doing for them, and more importantly, I doing for HIM, our loving and sovereign Creator.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”  Colossians 3:17 NIV

I am to worship the Lord in everything I say and do.  My actions reflect my heart and my attitude.  Which makes me cringe a little bit when I think of how I sometimes (and all too often) react when I am interrupted and tired (which is frequently).   I need to reflect an attitude of love, patience, and gratitude in all I do and say.  That is true worship.  For me, at this time in my life, that means stopping mid-dish (soapy hands and all) and sitting down to put together a puzzle, without the exasperated huff or harsh tone, for  ”whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV
